Hello, I'm T. Martin! I was raised Catholic in small-town Maine, and I’ve aspired to be an independent filmmaker my whole life. It just takes me a while to get my projects made.
I’m using this Substack to release updates on my Youtube channel T. Martin Presents as well as reviews and retrospectives on movies and video games every Sunday.
I had been releasing such media on a bi-weekly basis in video form, but, as I’ve found through my Letterboxd and my now-defunct Wordpress, I’ve always enjoyed writing more than filming myself talk to a camera, so I would feel more comfortable updating the channel and expressing my thoughts through text.
In my retrospective on 3D Movie Maker, I chronicled how that program was my first foray into filmmaking and animation, and I grew a cult following on my AbsurdlyAwesome channel for its stop-motion animated parodies of popular franchises, especially Transformers.
Alas, building my own original brand has proven to be far more difficult than building a brand around the mockery of existing properties.
As I chronicled in “My Long-Developing Animated Fantasy Web Series”, I’m building toward a non-comical passion project called Heiress of Arsieon, and I’ve been animating my own comical shorts in the medium to do so.
Having just released my third 2D-animated short, The Unfortunate Ranger - my first foray into the fantasy genre, I’ll give a look into projects I hope to get off the ground in 2024 and submit to film festivals before I post them on Youtube:
A short live-action comedy a local access TV station is helping me produce: Pizzaly Anxious, about a couple of socially anxious roommates arguing about who will answer the door for a pizza man.
My first ever dramatic short: Lycan’s Lair, about a peasant trying to rescue his betrothed from the hands of a werewolf. Depending on how much it will cost, I’ll put my own money into having at least part of it brought to life by an experienced animator; I’ll then seek investors to fund the rest of it.
On New Years Eve, I’ll be releasing a year in review for 2023 movies. You can find every new release of the year that I watched in my Letterboxd list, “T.’s 2023 Viewings”; the year in review post will give an overview of how I felt about the year and list my top fifteen titles.
I hope to see you then, and for the other projects I’m planning!
